The last Epitaph of the night is at 10.00 and is the impressive Epitaph of Corfu Cathedral. In this Epitaph, the presence of the Holy Clergy, of the Authorities and of thousands of Corfiots and visitors, gives an ecstatic dimension in this mournful night. The 'Old' Philharmonic ('red') performs the Albinoni's Adagio, the 'Mantzaros' Philharmonic ('blue') plays Verdi's Marcia Funebre and the 'Kapodistrias' Philharmonic plays Mariani's Elegia Funebre, also known as Sventura and Chopin's Marche Funebre.

Easter holidays in Corfu-Greece.Find your deal in Stay-Offers.com and travel to Greece!!
Easter, the greatest festivity of the Greek-Orthodox Church, is celebrated with particular reverence all over Greece. In Corfu the festivities of Easter are unique. The Western Civilization's influences are clearly visible even in this mainly Greek-Orthodox festivity.Corfiots call Easter Lambri of Lambria (Bright) expressing this way the symbolic spiritual brightness of the day. After a long seven-week period devoted to fasting and abstention from any kind of feast, comes Easter, day of happiness, day of enjoyments. The special local customs, the direct relation of these days with the beginning of spring, show off a uniqueness, which has rendered the Corfiot Easter an attraction with visitors from all over the world. The polyphonic ecclesiastical music (a local particularity) predominates and pours out of the Corfiot churches to the small alleys of the city and the suburbs. This harmonic melody, a particular quadraphonia, which came from Crete in the 17th century, even today is called "Cretan melody".The Corfiot Easter begins with the religious events of Palm Sunday. At 11.00 in the morning of Palm Sunday, the litany of the Holy Shrine of Saint Spyridon takes place, a procession which holds since 1630, in commemoration of the deliverance of the island from the spread of the deadly plague, which took the lives of many Corfiots in 1629. This litany is the largest in size and length and circumambulates the city on the trail of the old Venetian city-walls, with many stoppages on the way for prayers and entreaties. It is the only litany that all 18 Philharmonics of the island participate to honor the Patron Saint of Corfu. It is the custom after the end of the litany, all the Philharmonics to parade through the old city center playing cheerful marches. On the same night at 8.30 in the Municipal Theater the concert of the 'Mantzaros' Philharmonic takes place with solemn music, which introduces us in the mood of the Passion Week. From the next day, Monday before Easter, the Corfiots start shopping for Easter. The sweet smell of 'phogatsa', 'mandolato' and 'colombina' (all local food specialties) is sensed all around the city. In the afternoon the bells of the churches ring to call the congregation for the Service. On Tuesday before Easter the famous Kassiani motet is heard in the churches and at 9.00 in the evening in the Peristyle of the Old Palace the "Organization of Corfiot Activities" (OKE) stages the Musical and Poetic Night with the theme: "From Golgotha to Resurrection".In the past, from Wednesday before Easter onwards, the sheeps were brought from the countryside to Sarocco Sq. to be sold to the Corfiots and to the merchants from Patras. Nowadays, on the same night, at 8.30 the people are filling up the Municipal Theater to hear the Municipal Chorus singing ecclesiastical hymns of the Passion Week with chorals from the East and the West.On Maundy Thursday the Service of the Holy Passion is attended by the Corfiots in the churches. In the Catholic Cathedral, Duomo, they light up 12 candles and put out one-at-a-time after the hearing of each of the "12 Gospels". On the same day with the first bell-ring the red Easter-eggs are dyed, eternal symbol of the renewal of life and nature.OnGood Friday before the noon, the churches are crowded with people for the ceremony of the Descent of Christ from the Cross and the circumambulation of the dead Christ on a white sheet in an emotional atmosphere and the funereal ring of the bells. Later, the children run about the neighborhoods asking for flowers for the Epitaph. The decoration of each Epitaph is almost exclusive work of the young girls and towards the noon the Epitaphs are exposed to the faithful for pilgrimage.Early in the afternoon begins the circumambulation of the Epitaphs on the streets, alleys and squares of the old city and the suburbs. From 2.00 in the afternoon until late at night, tens of Epitaphs will pass around the city and as time passes more Epitaphs gather on the historic center and almost cross each other. Each Epitaph is accompanied by a chorus, a philharmonic, torches, manual lamps, scouolas (guild Patron Saint standards), which during this evening are held sideways indicating the funereal character of the procession. Schools, scouts and groups of little girls carrying baskets full of flowers, which are abundant in Corfu this time of the year, also accompany each Epitaph.
Holidays in cultural Portugal!! Find your Hotel deal in Stay-Offers.com!!
Holidays in Portugal!! Portugal in Southern Europe, shares the Iberian peninsula at the western tip of Europe with Spain. Geographically and culturally somewhat isolated from its neighbor, Portugal has a rich, unique culture, lively cities and beautiful countryside. Although it was once one of the poorest countries in Western Europe, the end of dictatorship and introduction of Democracy in 1974, as well as its incorporation into the European Union in 1986, has meant significantly increased prosperity. However it may be one of the best value destinations on the Continent. This is because the country offers outstanding landscape diversity, due to its North-South disposition along the western shore of the Iberian peninsula. You can travel in a single day from green mountains in the North, covered with vines and all varieties of trees to rocky mountains, with spectacular slopes and falls in the Centre, to a near-desert landscape in the Alentejo region and finally to the glamorous beach holidays destination Algarve. The climate, combined with investments in the golfing infrastructure in recent years, has also turned the country into a golfing haven. Portugal was recently named "Best Golf Destination 2008" by readers of Golfers Today, a British publication. Fourteen of Portugal's courses are rated in the top 100 best in Europe. If you want a condensed view of European landscapes, culture and way of life, Portugal might very well fit the bill. http://stay-offers.com/index.php/en/

Your holidays in Cosmopolitan and Glamorous Mykonos with Special Hotel Deals from Stay-Offers.com. http://stay-offers.com/index.php/en/.
Welcome to Greece's most famous cosmopolitan island, a whitewashed paradise in the heart of the Cyclades. According to mythology, Mykonos was formed from the petrified bodies of giants killed by Hercules. And did you know that the island took its name from the grandson of Apollo, “Mykonos”?
Set out on a journey to discover a fascinating world where glamour meets simplicity. On Mykonos celebrities, college students and families mingle together to celebrate the Greek summer. Whether you are an entertainment junkie out for a real good time, or a visitor who wishes to explore the island’s history and tradition, Mykonos will certainly meet your expectations.
Mykonos windmills
• Exploring the island’s capital town
In contrast to other Cycladic capitals, the capital town (Hóra) of the island is not built in the shape of an amphitheatre but instead spreads out over a wide area. It is one of the best examples of Cycladic architecture and a spellbinding attraction for visitors. Stroll around its narrow marble streets and admire whitewashed houses with colourful doors and window frames, bougainvillea trees in purple bloom and hidden churches. Pay a visit to the church of Panayia Paraportiani, the Town hall and the castle situated above the harbour. Don’t forget to visit the Archaeological, Folklore and Maritime Museums to take in a little history. Wander around the pedestrian shopping streets of the Hóra, always colourful and busy. The most glamorous of all is Matoyánni Street, lined with brand name stores, charming cafés and stylish restaurants.
Soak up the atmosphere along the lively waterfront and admire a fleet of fishing boats casting colourful reflections in the azure waters. This is where you will find the Kazárma building, which served as accommodation for the soldiers of Manto Mavrogenous, a heroine of the Greek Revolution. The first floor served as her personal residence. While you’re out strolling, don’t be surprised if you come across the official mascot of Mykonos, which is nothing other than a... pelican! Pétros the Pelican was found by a fisherman after a storm in 1954, and eventually became the locals’ companion. When he died, the grief for his loss was so deep that a replacement was soon found. In honour of Pétros, the locals have established a long tradition of pelicans wandering around the waterfront as an essential part of everyday life. So, whatever you do, don’t forget to take a picture with the successor of the famous pelican Pétros!
One of the most scenic corners of the island is Alefkántra or “Little Venice”, an 18th century district, dominated by grand captains’ mansions with colourful balconies and stylish windows. With balconies perched over the sea, pictures of the famous Italian city spring to mind. Relax at a waterfront café and admire the view of the quaint windmills standing imposingly on the hillside above, set against a luminous blue backdrop.
The second traditional settlement of Mykonos is Áno Merá, situated around the historic monastery of Panayia Tourliani (a 16th century church with a brilliant carved wooden iconostasis). To the north, in Fteliá, lies an important Neolithic settlement, and a 14th-13th century BC Mycenaean tomb.
Using the Hóra as your base, set out on a trip to discover the beauties of the island, in particularly its sun-kissed beaches. Along the southern coast you will find a great selection of the most cosmopolitan ones. Here, wild parties keep the crowds rocking day and night. Paradise and Super Paradise may already be familiar to you. Órnos and Psaroú are favorite spots for families. Try a visit too to Platis Yalós, with a well-organized beach where you can soak up the sun lazing on a sun lounge. However, if you are looking for a serene beach to unwind with a book, pick a less organized one on the northern coast of the island, like Ayia Ánna, Houlákia, Kápari, Agrári and Ayios Stéfanos.
• Need an adrenaline rush?
The island is a paradise for water sport enthusiasts! It is only natural that the “Island of the Winds” should attract surfers and sailors from all over the world! There is a great choice of beaches for windsurfing; however, the most secluded ones are considered to be the best. Choose from Kórfos, Fteliá, Meyáli Ámmos and Kalafátis, where surfing lessons are also available. Play tennis or mini golf at Ayios Stéfanos, beach volleyball at Ayia Anna or try sea parachuting or jet skiing at Eliá or Kalafátis. Diving fans can do a little exciting exploration of the underwater magic of Mykonos. September is thought to be the best month for diving, as the water is warm and visibility is good down at the seabed.
On the island you can find many well-organized diving centers (some of them also offer snorkeling lessons) and stores specializing in diving equipment. Explore the island on a caicque or a boat and discover secluded beaches, or take a boat tour around the nearby islets, which are also ideal fishing spots!
• What about food?
Don’t miss the opportunity to treat yourself to some local Aegean specialties! Pepper flavoured kopanistí, a soft cheese seasoned with pepper, is the island’s gastronomic trademark. Try it as a topping on a round rusk spread with grated tomato, a favourite local mezés (appetiser). Meat eaters can sample “loúzes” (cooked pork filet with spices) and tasty local sausages sprinkled with pepper, and local oregano that has been caressed by the sun and dried in the north wind. To finish off your meal you can sample two exceptionally good local pastries, “amigdalotá” (small round cakes with ground almond, rosewater and caster sugar) and honey pie.
If you find yourself in Mykonos take the opportunity to explore the tiny archaeological gem of Delos, just a short boat trip away. Delos was a sacred island in ancient times, and according to mythology was the birthplace of the twin gods Apollo and Artemis.

Carribean Hotel deal in www. Stay-Offers.com!! Save 10%!!
Exotic holidays in Barbados!! A Caribbean Paradise!!
After about 300 years of British heritage, Barbados has become 'veddy British,' and Bajans, as Barbadians call themselves, are not about to stop now.
Cricket is huge in the sports category of Bajan lifestyles. There is a statue of British Royal Navy Lord Admiral Horatio Nelson in Trafalgar Square, Bridgetown, the Bajan capital.
There is also a dress code; formal attire isn't just for weddings and funerals. Businessmen dress up, even to the point of sometimes wearing a jacket as well as a tie. And, here, bathing suits are strictly for the beach.
Topping it all off is the Bajan obsession for education. Literacy is around 100 percent. Bajans overseas are so highly educated that they are the first to be hired, the last to be fired.
It should come as no surprise that Barbados was the first British Colony to back England in its 1939 declaration of war against Germany. Bajans fired off a cable to London and informed the Mother Country that they had nothing to fear - because "Little England is with you."
"Little England," as Barbados was called in Colonial days, also has a Scottish section. The so-called Scottish District can best be viewed from the top of Cherry Tree Hill about 850 feet above sea level.
From that vantage point, you can see all of St Andrew's Parish, named after the Patron Saint of Scotland. No more cherry trees, though. They have been replaced with mahogany trees.
What to do on Barbados? For starters, there is kitesurfing, windsurfing, spelunking (exploring caves), golf and tours ranging from safari to rum, submarine, helicopter and catamaran adventures.
Highly recommended are the so-called Seven Wonders: Harrison's Cave, for its gallery of stalactites; the huge Baobab or Monkey Bread tree; two of the Western Hemisphere's three Jacobean mansions; the intact and restored Morgan Lewis Sugar Mill; the 17th century Jewish synagogue; the world's rarest collection of 17th century English iron cannons; and the place where a Bajan citrus cross-fertilization produced the world's first grapefruit.
In addition, there are many romantic plantation houses, a zoo, and the world-class Pelican Crafts Centre. At Orchid World, there are thousands of orchids in and around the cane fields of St George Parish.
What's for dinner? Your choices are mind-boggling. Bajans are known for their tasty flying fish dishes, but there are many non-Bajan eateries, ranging from Chinese to Japanese, French, Polynesian, Italian, French and Greek.
If you arrive by cruise ship, as thousands of visitors do, the capital city of Bridgetown is only about a mile from the Bridgetown Cruise Terminal. If you arrive by air, you will land at an airport so advanced that it was named the best in the Caribbean in the World Travel Award competition in New York City in 2003. Barbados, at the same time, was named best Caribbean destination, best Caribbean tourist board, the leading Caribbean golf centre, and head of the pack in boutique hotels.
On the windward (east) coast, there is a constant breeze to temper the island's marine tropical climate. Bajans enjoy a wide variety of flora and fauna, as well as many caves and underground lakes. The drinking water is considered to be one of the purest in the Caribbean.
In short, Barbados is a beautiful place with much to offer in the arts, entertainment, hotel and restaurant fields. In the science category, you can find geological phenomena unlike any other formations throughout the Caribbean.
And the people couldn't be nicer or friendlier. Try to arrange your visit during the gala "Crop Up," when Bajans celebrate the harvest season.

Visit Sitia of Grete. Visit Greece!!
The town had a turbulent history up to 1651 in which year the Venetians razed the buildings left standing after the great earthquake of 1508 and the subsequent raid in 1538 by the infamous Barbarossa.
It was rebuilt on the site of the ruins in 1870 and called Avnie, a name which was rejected by the people who preferred the name Sitia, thus maintaining their links with the past.
Upon the arrival of the Byzantines it became an important commercial port and remained so up to and throughout the early Venetian era.
The Venetians described Sitia as "the radiant focal point of the island" (maximum statum et lumen insulae) and refer to it in Regno di Candia as a major commercial hub for the East and Africa. The Venetians stamped their authority by building many fortresses in areas of strategic importance, most of which can still be seen today.

Enjoy your Stay in Sardinia with Special Stay Offers from www.Stay-Offers.com!!
Stay in Sardinia.
Situated off the western coast of Italy, Sardinia is a beautiful Mediterranean island with stunning beaches and panoramic views of the mountains and sea. Its southern tip faces Africa, while its north shore lies just a few miles from Corsica. Sardinia, despite becoming an exclusive, luxurious holiday destination in recent years, remains unspoilt by tourism. With its turquoise seas, granite rock formations and lush vegetation, the island is a jewel in the Mediterranean.
The culture of Sardinia is colourful and vibrant; historical sites depict the various invasions over the centuries and the mesh of different cultures can be seen today in the island’s archaeology and architecture. Roman remains exist at Cagliari, Nora and Tharros, while the conical towers of the Nuraghi are scattered around the countryside.
Sardinian food is vibrant and delicious. Its influences are Phoenician, Spanish, Italian and Carthaginian. The locally sourced rustic dishes such as wild boar and spit-roasted pig, are complemented with couscous, artichokes and aubergines. The warm Mediterranean sea ensures a wealth of exquisite seafood features on every menu, such as lobster and octopus, and the top quality hotels on the island combine locally sourced ingredients with an international level of gastronomy, created by top chefs.
The north east coast of Sardinia features the exclusive region of Costa Smeralda, which often attracts fashion, sports and film star celebrities with its luxury 4 and 5 star hotels and resorts. The streets of Porto Cervo, the capital of the area, are lined with designer boutiques and restaurants, offering the finest dining experiences. In the summer months, its harbour is filled with millionaires’ yachts. The Costa Smeralda (Emerald Coast) is also one of the most naturally beautiful areas of Sardinia, with the waters turning to hues of green beyond its sandy beaches. There are protected islands scattered offshore, which form part of the National Park, and many of these are uninhabited.
The south of Sardinia is home to its capital, Cagliari, and in this region there are endless miles of soft, white beaches, coves to explore and opportunities to dive among the exotic sea life.
Inland, visitors can explore the Sardinian history and uncover traditional villages and hamlets among the hills that are untouched by tourism.
Guests can opt to stay in a high quality Sardinian hotel with views over the Mediterranean and dine by candlelight on romantic terraces. The more independent travellers might prefer to rent a private villa with a fresh water pool warmed by the Sardinian sun, and discover secret beaches and coves a mere stone’s throw away. Yachts are available for hire, as well as boat tours, and the island of La Maddalena and its neighbours are well worth exploring for their haunting granite cliffs, lush vegetation and exquisite, occasionally pink sandy beaches.
Sardinia is an island of outstanding natural beauty that exists in harmony with its tastefully designed, luxury resorts. It is this, as well as the country’s enviable location in the central Mediterranean, that makes Sardinia a most sought after holiday destination.
